Kidnappers den in Ibadan uncovered, fake currency notes, cars found

The police in Oyo state yesterday June 1st uncovered a shrine where fake currencies(pounds, euros, dollars) are produced in Isase, Ojoku, in Ona Ara Local Government Area of the state. The state commissioner of Police, Mohammed Katsina while taking pressmen on an inspection of the area, said the the den was discovered through intelligence gathering. Fake currencies, including Euros, Pounds, Dollars as well as fetish things(charms, statues, cowries) were discovered in the place. Also cars including two Toyota Camry and a Nissan Almera were discovered at the shrine. See the photos after the cut..

When interrogated, one of the suspects apprehended, 43 year old Ismail Adesina, who says he is a herbalist, denied being involved in kidnapping or ritual activities but says he and his other members who are currently at large, are involved in producing fake currencies. He said he and his gang members deceived their victims and extorted money from them.

"I am a herbalist and I inherited the skill from my father. I am also a conman. I cured diabetes, barrenness, blindness and other ailments. I have cured many people. My partner, who escaped yesterday, knows how the currencies were produced. Taju and Wasiu are my other partners. We have been here for about four years. We collected varying sums of money from our victims but we do not kidnap people. We bought the land in the bush and built the houses. I am a native of Beyerunka in Ibadan. The names of our victims are with my partners. We have deceived up to five persons, comprising four men and one woman. The woman came to us because she was barren. We asked her to bring N150,000 or N200,000. We built this place ourselves. We do the work of Babalawo here. Our clients used to come from as far as Abuja. I hail from Beyerunka, Ibadan. My father was a Babalawo. But my father was not a fraudster like me. The owners of the cars are our partners that usually bring customers to us. My wife divorced me and went away with the two kids she had for me. She left me about two years ago because she asked me for money and I did not have. I have been into this business before the divorce issue came in.”he said

Van Basten: I didn't think Suarez could play for Barcelona

Netherlands legend Marco van Basten has admitted that he did not believe that Luis Suarez could make it at Barcelona.
The Uruguayan moved to Camp Nou last summer from Liverpool and, after a slow start to life in Spain, has scored 24 goals in all competitions.
However, his fellow former Ajax striker believed that he would have been better suited to a career in Serie A to La Liga.
"I was expecting him to be a really good player but I didn't think of him playing for a team like Barcelona," he is quoted as saying by Sport.
"I felt he'd be more suited to a team like Juventus or Inter because the football in Italy is a bit different to the football they play at Barcelona.
"Barca play a really clever type of football, close together with everyone at a high level technically. I think he is more of an opportunistic forward who should just go forward and see what happens.
"He does that in a marvellous way but it's not the way he plays at Barcelona."

Derby County appoint Paul Clement as head coach

Derby County have appointed former Real Madrid assistant Paul Clement as their new head coach on a three-year deal.

He replaces Steve McClaren, who was sacked last month after the club finished eighth in the Championship.

It is the first managerial role for Englishman Clement, 43, who left the La Liga side following the sacking of manager Carlo Ancelotti.

"Paul is one of the most in-demand coaches in world football," said Rams chief executive Sam Rush.

"I am delighted that he has agreed to join Derby. He is hugely respected, has exceptional relationships throughout football and tremendous coaching experience at some of the very best clubs in Europe."

Clement described joining Derby as "incredibly exciting" and is looking forward to working at a "massive club".

The Londoner began his coaching career with Chelsea in the 1990s and returned to the club in 2007.

He started working with the first team under Guus Hiddink in 2009 and then became a key figure working with Ancelotti at Chelsea, Paris St-Germain and Real.

Clement has worked with some of the biggest names in world football including Didier Drogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Rush added: "He is the perfect appointment at the next stage of Derby County's development and we are looking forward to the coming season with a great deal of optimism."

Derby were leading the Championship in late February but won only two out of their last 13 league games, missing out on a play-off place on the final day of the season.
